Gelcoat, GRP and osmosis repairs in Malta
Chips and cracks let water into the laminate, and Malta's sun yellows an old repair. We repair the structure, colour-match the gelcoat, and photograph before, during and after so the insurer and the next surveyor can see exactly what was done.

What we would check first
Photograph it today for the insurer. We assess the depth before quoting: cosmetic or into the laminate.

What we do
What we take care of.
- Impact and berthing damageDamage ground back to sound laminate, rebuilt, faired and gelcoated. Photographed at every stage for your insurer.
- Gelcoat colour matchingMatched to the sun-faded colour your boat actually is, not the colour it left the factory in.
- Stress cracks and crazingOpened, filled and finished properly, with the cause found. Crazing around a stanchion usually means a loose stanchion.
- Structural GRP repairsHoled, delaminated or cracked laminate cut back and rebuilt in layers, inside and out.
- OsmosisMoisture readings first. Then blisters opened, the hull dried, an epoxy barrier coat applied and antifouled.
- Leaking deck fittingsStanchions, windows, hatches and cleats lifted, the holes sealed and the fittings rebedded, so the leak stops rather than moves.
- Non-slip deck repairsWorn or damaged non-slip patterned in to match the surrounding deck.
- Insurance claimsPhotographs, a written quote in the form insurers ask for, and the liaison so you do not have to fly out.

Berthing knock
What is involved. Damage assessed for depth, ground back, laminated if needed, faired, gelcoat matched and polished.
When. Soon after it happens. Open laminate takes on water.
Crazing and stress cracks
What is involved. Cracks opened out, the cause fixed, filled and gelcoated to match.
When. Before they spread. Crazing is a symptom, not just a blemish.
Osmosis treatment
What is involved. Hull dried on the hardstand, blisters opened, laminate treated, barrier coat and antifouling.
When. When moisture readings are high. Best started early in the winter.
Rebedding fittings
What is involved. Fitting lifted, old sealant removed, core sealed, fitting rebedded on fresh sealant.

Questions
Questions owners ask first.
Will the repair show?
On recent gelcoat, no. On gelcoat that has faded in the sun for fifteen years, a perfect match is genuinely difficult and we tell you that before starting rather than after. Polishing the whole panel afterwards helps.
Can it be done at the berth?
Repairs above the waterline, deck crazing and fittings, yes. Anything below the waterline, and osmosis, needs the boat out of the water.
How serious is osmosis?
Rarely urgent, never something to ignore. It is slow, it lowers the value of the boat, and it is far cheaper to treat early. Moisture readings tell us where you stand.
Can you handle the insurance claim?
We photograph the damage, quote in the format the insurer wants, and deal with the assessor if one is sent. You approve the work once the claim is agreed.
How long does gelcoat take to cure?
It depends on the temperature. In a Maltese summer a day; in winter longer, and we may need a heater or cover. We build that into the quote.
Care plans
Never chase this again.
Every care visit photographs the topsides, so a new knock is spotted and claimed in time. Gold customers get a berth check when a storm warning is issued: lines, fenders and covers.
