Antifouling, haul-out and hull polishing in Malta
We book the yard slot, meet the boat at the lift, and hand it back with fresh antifouling, new anodes, checked seacocks and polished topsides. You see every stage in photographs, from the pressure wash to the relaunch.

What we would check first
Fouling. A pressure wash and a look at the hull tells us whether it needs a haul-out now or can wait for the spring slot.

What we do
What we take care of.
- Haul-out coordinationThe slot booked at a yard with the right lift for your boat, the lift met, cradle and props checked before anyone works underneath.
- Pressure wash and inspectionHull, keel, rudder and stern gear washed and photographed while wet, so you see what came off and what is underneath.
- AntifoulingOld coating keyed back or stripped where it has failed, primer where needed, waterline masked, two coats of a paint suited to Malta's warm water.
- AnodesShaft, prop and hull anodes replaced and recorded, with a note on how fast they went, which says a lot about the marina's electrics.
- Stern gearCutless bearing, propeller, shaft seal and rope cutter checked while the boat is out, when they are cheap to fix.
- SeacocksEvery seacock worked, greased and its hose and clips checked. Seized ones are replaced out of the water, not discovered in it.
- Topsides polishChalky gelcoat cut back, polished and waxed. Can also be done at the berth between haul-outs.
- Osmosis checksMoisture readings across the underwater hull. Blister treatment is quoted separately if it is needed.
- Relaunch checkEngine started, seacocks and stern gland checked for leaks in the slings before the boat goes back to its berth.

When
The usual jobs, and the months they happen.
Annual antifouling
What is involved. Lift, pressure wash, inspection, keying, two coats, new anodes, seacock check, relaunch check, photographs of every stage.
When. Every 12 months in Malta. A boat that sits at the berth fouls faster than one that is used.
Topsides cut and polish
What is involved. Oxidised gelcoat cut back with compound, polished and waxed, stainless cleaned.
When. Yearly, usually with the haul-out, or at the berth in spring.
Anodes between haul-outs
What is involved. A diver replaces shaft and prop anodes in the water. We arrange it and photograph the old ones.
When. When a care visit finds them more than half gone.
Seacock replacement
What is involved. Seized or corroded seacocks cut out and replaced with new bronze or composite fittings, hoses and clips renewed.
When. Whenever one will not turn. Usually found during the haul-out.
Osmosis treatment
What is involved. Blisters opened, hull dried, epoxy barrier coat applied, then antifouled. Quoted after moisture readings.
When. When readings are high or blisters appear. Not a rush job.

Questions
Questions owners ask first.
Which yard will the boat go to?
Whichever has a slot and the right lift for your boat. We work at every yard in Malta and Gozo, including Manoel Island, Palumbo, MMH and Bezzina, and we tell you which one and why before booking.
How long is the boat out of the water?
A straightforward antifouling with anodes and seacock checks is a matter of days, weather permitting. Osmosis, seacock replacements or stern-gear work add to that, and we say so in the quote.
Can this be done while I am abroad?
Yes. You get photographs at the wash, after inspection, between coats and at the relaunch check, and a call if we find something that needs a decision.
Which antifouling do you use?
One that is compatible with what is already on the hull and suited to how the boat is used: a hard paint for boats that sit, an eroding one for boats that move. We tell you what we recommend and why.
Can you polish the topsides without hauling out?
Yes. Topsides can be cut and polished at the berth in spring. The underwater hull, anodes and seacocks need the boat out.
Care plans
Never chase this again.
On a care plan we tell you when the haul-out is due and quote it, so the slot can be booked before the yards fill up in spring. The seacocks are checked at every care visit.
